Courageous Leadership Scholarship
Introducing the $6,000 Courageous Leadership Scholarship
As all current and aspiring leaders continue to adapt to the new normal of our world, empathy, compassion, resiliency, and courage are more important than ever before. These traits also align with our Franciscan values, emphasizing the importance of:
- an inclusive and diverse community, affirming the unique dignity of everyone
- compassion to all and especially to underrepresented groups
- wisdom to transform and elevate the whole person, not only intellect and integrity
- giving respect to the presence of others as embodied in our personal and professional lives.
To demonstrate our commitment to these values and the leaders who will shape them globally, we are offering this Courageous Leadership Scholarship. The heightened importance of preparing and guiding leaders in this time cannot be understated. We need leaders who can deliver on and are aligned with our university mission and values to live humanly, deeply and well in our world.
Are you one of those leaders? If so, keep reading.
What is the Courageous Leadership Scholarship?
The Courageous Leadership Scholarship is for students who plan to start our online Master of Arts in Leadership program in January 2022. You can enroll in the leadership master’s program with a BA or BS in any field, and no GRE/GMAT is required. Applicants for the program must have at least 3 years of professional experience to apply. Yet to apply? Speak with an Enrollment Advisor to be guided through the process.
The $6,000 scholarship credit will be spread evenly throughout the program. Students have to complete the entire degree to receive the full scholarship benefit. Scholarship funds cannot be combined with any other St. Bonaventure tuition awards.
How do I apply for the scholarship?
Applying for the scholarship is easy. Once you are accepted into the program, you may submit a 500-750 word double-spaced essay OR a 3-5 minute video on how you have, or how you plan to, challenge the status quo and create necessary change reflective of a more communal, compassionate world.
Who do I send my scholarship submission to, and what’s the deadline?
Email your submission to gradsch@sbu.edu by January 2, 2022. We will be awarding scholarships on a rolling basis between now and January. With a limited number available, we encourage you to submit your essay or video as soon as possible to avoid missing out.
I’ve already been accepted into the Master of Arts in Leadership program for January. Am I still eligible for the scholarship?
Yes, whether you applied weeks ago, are currently working through your application or are planning to apply over the coming weeks - you can submit a scholarship submission once your acceptance into the program is confirmed.
