MSED Counseling State Licensure (Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling)
St. Bonaventure has reviewed the educational requirements for licensure and indicated below whether or not the Master of Science in Education in either Clinical Mental Health Counseling or School Counseling programs meets, does not meet or has not determined if the program meets the educational requirements in the table below.
The Master of Social Work prepares students for licensure as a social worker. St. Bonaventure University has reviewed the educational program requirements for licensure as a social worker. For each state, St. Bonaventure University has either: determined the Master of Social Work curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification, determined the Master of Social Work curriculum does not meet the educational requirements for licensure or certification, or has not made a determination that the Master of Social Work curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure or certification. These determinations are provided in the table below.
St. Bonaventure University discloses that successful completion of the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program meets the graduate-level education requirements for licensure eligibility as a speech-language pathologist in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The licensure disclosures pertain to professional speech language pathologist licensure in each state. Please be aware that some states require a separate credential to practice in the school system which may have additional requirements. If a state Department of Education requires a separate credential to practice in the school system, you must obtain that credential to practice in schools. It is the student's responsibility to determine what is required to obtain the credential to work in the school system. It is the student’s responsibility to remain up to date on all state licensure requirements.
Please be advised that licensure-related laws and regulations may change at any time, so always check with the state licensure agency where you plan to seek employment for the most up-to-date information. State licensure contact information can be found here: https://www.asha.org/advocacy/state/. Some employment settings within states have additional requirements that must be met to practice in that setting. Always check with the agency that governs the practice setting in which you plan to work. Information regarding practice-setting specific requirements and contact information can be found here: https://www.asha.org/advocacy/state/.
St. Bonaventure University discloses the Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program does not meet or is unable to determine whether it meets the graduate-level education requirements for licensure eligibility as a speech-language pathologist in the following U.S. territories: American Samoa, Guam, & Puerto Rico.
*The U.S. Virgin Islands does not currently license speech-language pathologists. Practitioners must obtain a business license from the Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs.
