Alyson Mullen
Professional Background
Alyson Mullen is an Adjunct Counseling Instructor in the Master of Education Program. She has taught a wide set of courses, including Practicum, Crisis Counseling, Group Therapy, Substance Use Disorders and Family Treatment, Substance Use Disorders in Adolescents, Family Systems, An Overview of Addiction Treatment, and Lifespan Development.
Mullen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor/Supervisor in the state of Nevada. She specializes in working with pregnant and postpartum women, as well as clients with severe mental illness. Mullen is a Ph.D. candidate at Oregon State University and will be graduating in June 2024 with a doctorate in counseling. Her research is focused on pregnant and postpartum women who experience depression or actively use opioids throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Mullen has worked in the nonprofit sector for several years and has experience teaching at a variety of universities on topics such as addiction treatment, lifespan development, clinical practice, and theory. She is passionate about the field of behavioral health and enjoys working with counselors in training as they prepare to enter the workforce.
