Professional Background
Hannah Smith, MS, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist specializing in adult speech therapy and recent addition to the adjunct faculty for St. Bonaventure's Online M.S. SLP program. She graduated with her master's in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, and has since spent over a decade working as a speech-language pathologist in a variety of settings, including skilled nursing facilities, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, and acute care. She currently works in acute care at a level I trauma center in Kansas City while pursuing her doctorate in Therapeutic Science at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her research interests include improving communication access in healthcare settings for adults with aphasia as well as the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) with this population.
Hannah has also served as a clinical supervisor for much of her career and has had the privilege of mentoring many graduate students over the years during clinical placements in both outpatient rehabilitation and community wellness settings. Her love of clinical supervision is what led her to pursue a career in teaching at the graduate level, and she is excited to take the next step in that career as an instructor for St. Bonaventure!
