Professional Background
I currently own a private practice where I serve children with swallowing and communication disorders. I also work part-time in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within a local hospital in Shawnee Mission, Kansas and also work within an affiliated outpatient developmental center at the same hospital as needed. The majority of my clinical work prior to 2024 has been in pediatrics, within a children's hospital, in both inpatient and outpatient settings. However, I also have nearly 5 years of experience working in home health services and have served adult populations for a small percentage of my career within an inpatient rehab and skilled nursing setting. I started my career in a public school district (in a K-8 school) and have also worked collaboratively with school-based clinicians throughout my career. I previously taught pediatric dysphagia as an adjunct professor at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri from 2018 to 2023. While working in a pediatric hospital, I also co-authored 3 papers related to pediatric dysphagia which were published in peer-reviewed journals.
