Amy Mann
Professional Background
Amy Mann has been an Adjunct Professor in the Counselor Education Program at St. Bonaventure University since August 2011. She holds an MSEd in Mental Health counseling and an Advanced Certificate of Community Mental Health Counseling, both earned from St. Bonaventure University. Mann has taught a plethora of courses, including CE 510 Intro to Prof. Counseling, CE 610 Practicum, CE 625A Internship I CMHC, CE 625B Internship II CMHC, CE 634 Interventions, CE 637 Management CMHC Programs, CE 638 Multicultural Counseling, and CE 642 Intro to Crisis Counseling.
Mann possesses a profound professional background. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York and has been operating her private practice, Amy Mann Counseling, since February 2022. Additionally, she has held various roles at the Cattaraugus County Department of Community Services since October 2006, including Clinic Program Director and Suicide Prevention Coalition Coordinator.
Prior to working at St. Bonaventure, Mann worked as a Multi-systemic Therapy Therapist at Catholic Charities of WNY from November 2005 to September 2006 and as an EAP Telephonic Counselor at Employee Services, Inc. from April 2005 to October 2005. In terms of her accomplishments, Mann is trained in EMDR, CBT, and SFBT. She is also a certified trainer for various programs such as SafeTALK, Talk Saves Lives, It’s Real-College Students and Mental Health, Lifeline’s Postvention, Suicide Safety for School Staff, and Mental Health First Aid for Youth. As the Cattaraugus County Out of the Darkness Walk Chair for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), she actively participates in community involvement and contributes to suicide prevention efforts.
Mann views education as a partnership between the teacher and the student. Her philosophy is to be a guide on the student's journey of learning by providing as much information, guidance, and encouragement as she can. She believes that ultimately, it is the student’s responsibility to take her guidance and apply it.
