Brenda Cappy Gruhn
Professional Background
Gruhn is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Counseling in the School of Education. She teaches School Counseling Internship, School Counseling Practicum, Group Counseling, and Advanced Human Growth & Development. Gruhn’s education includes a BA from Point Park University in 1996, an MA from the University of Pittsburgh in 2001, and a PhD candidate from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (anticipated graduation in December 2024). Other education includes being a Certified Mindfulness Instructor for the Mindfulness Institute for Emerging Adults.
Aside from teaching, Gruhn is also a licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania, a Professional School Counselor in Pennsylvania, a Nationally Certified Counselor; and a private practice owner in Pittsburgh, PA, that provides outpatient therapy, clinical supervision, and mindfulness facilitation. Her current research interests include mindfulness, creative supervision, school counseling, and advocacy.
