My name is Dr. Rebecca Scherer and I have been a counselor educator since 2014. I have worked in graduate counseling programs on campus and online. My research interests include multicultural counseling, mentorship in counselor education, and supervision. I have presented internationally, nationally, regionally, and locally on these topics and have several publications specific to counselor education. In addition, I have a small private practice where I specialize in animal-assisted therapy.
I got my Master’s in Community Mental Health from Marymount University and my Doctorate in Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, National Certified Counselor, and Approved Clinical Supervisor. I have worked with a broad clientele from children to seniors doing individual, family, couples, and group work, and in the community collaborating with other agencies to protect, support and advocate for clients, and provide psycho education and training to different community entities.
