Online Graduate Virtual Welcome Packet

Within this Virtual Welcome Packet, you will find information to help you start your academic experience at St. Bonaventure University, from course registration to financial aid options and more. Orientation

Orientation is available via Moodle approximately two weeks in advance for online students and prepares you for the format and workflow of your courses.

Registration
MSED Students:
  1. Access MySBU
  2. Go to Self-Service
  3. Plan Your Degree & Register for Courses
  4. Course Catalog
  5. Instead of “Advanced Search”, switch to the “Subject Search” view
  6. In the Subject Search - choose your subject (CE)
  7. Go to the course you need
  8. Click the drop box that says “view available sections” and click “add”. This will prompt a pop up where you will click “add section”.
    • When selecting a section please make sure it is the dates you are looking for and the location is “SBU online”
  9. Go back and complete the same process for all courses you are registering for
  10. Once you have added all the courses, you will click the menu icon (top left of page; the icon is three lines)
  11. Expand the “Academics” drop down, then “student planning”, and then click “Plan and Schedule”
  12. Click “register” on the courses you had planned
    • You will get a “registered, but not started” message when the course is registered
Students in Other Programs:

  • If I am having time management issues/struggling in my courses
  • If I have any questions about policies and/or procedures
  • Regular Check-Ins

Faculty Advisor

  • If I am failing my courses and have questions about my academic standing
  • If you need a remade degree plan due to taking a session off
  • If I need any career advising

Faculty (Professors)

  • If I have any assignment questions or need further clarification
  • If I have any assignment grades or feedback concerns
  • If I need to request an extension or incomplete

Program Director

  • If I have any questions about transfer credits
  • If I have any concerns/complaints about my professor(s) or program

Placement Coordinator

  • If I have any questions about practicum/internship hours
  • If I have any questions about field placement
  • You begin working with her about 1.5 semesters prior to placement
