Jason Langston
Professional Background
Professor Langston is an adjunct professor within the St. Bonaventure School of Arts and Sciences and teaches the Introduction to Information Security course.
Professor Langston is a veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps. This experience allowed him to develop strong leadership, discipline, and critical-thinking skills. He uses these skills to inform his approach to teaching and problem-solving in cybersecurity. One of his major accomplishments include co-developing a tool (FMD) with Brian Kellogg, which pulls and analyzes file metadata.
His teaching philosophy is to “be the professor I needed”, meaning someone who fosters understanding, supports, and inspires students to excel academically and personally. While he values discipline and hard work, he believes “life is too short to be serious all the time.” By incorporating humor and a send of balance, he aims to create and engaging, supportive environment where students can thrive.
